If you are a new mother, especially a mother who is going back to work, you are going to need a breast feeding pump. And not just working moms appreciate breast feeding pumps: any mother who wants to be able to take some time to herself or to go on a date night appreciates breast pumps. The question is, which kind should a mother buy?

· Manual breast feeding pump – If you are planning on taking only a night or day away from your baby at a time, a manual breast pump is a good choice. It is generally less expensive than other models; and while it does take a little more time and effort to use, this hardly matters when it is used rarely.
· Battery operated breast feeding pump – This is a great device both for stay-at-home moms and working moms. Working moms like battery operated pumps because they can be used easily and fairly discreetly while at work. They are also good for moms who are going on trips with the family or who will be away from an electrical outlet.
· Electric breast feeding pump – these are generally the most effective and fastest, but also the most expensive. Nonetheless, for a mother going back to work, speed and ease are important. Any mother who plans to express milk often should at least consider buying or renting an electric pump.
